Road to Recovery for Men

Men face a variety of challenges when seeking help and getting sober. Not only do men have a high rate of addiction, but they also often have trouble asking for the help they need. Next Step Recovery understands how difficult the road to recovery can be for men. That’s why we have designed a program to meet the specific needs of men that have decided to begin their journey of sobriety.

Our male-centered program offers a variety of features, which include DBT skill training, CBT, distress tolerance training, stress management, job search assistance, and so much more. We help our patients to navigate the road to recovery, so they can reach a happy and healthy destination!

Intensive Outpatient Alcohol Rehab and Drug Rehab

Intensive outpatient (IOP) is a program that involves a patient visiting the facility for treatment and returning home each day when the treatment is completed. At Next Step Recovery, we offer a comprehensive, 12-week IOP program for our patients. During this time, patients visit the facility 3 to 5 days a week for a few hours at a time. This flexibility makes it ideal for patients that have outside work and family obligations.

During IOP treatment, patients receive therapy and learn different distress tolerance and coping mechanisms. This allows them to better handle cravings and triggers when they appear. During IOP, patients receive group therapy, individual therapy, 12-step education, Wilderness Adventure Therapy, and more. The goal is to provide a comprehensive approach with many opportunities for growth and success.

Exercise Therapy

Exercise has a lot of amazing benefits for those in early recovery. It helps to improve health, relieves stress, and create a sense of mindfulness. Our patients are able to feel a sense of peace during exercise therapy and clear their minds for a period of time. We offer BJJ, yoga, meditation, and other forms of exercise to boost the physical and mental health of our patients.

Along with the amazing physical benefits of exercise are the psychological benefits. Our exercise program is designed to create a sense of empowerment and accomplishment in our patients. Exercises like BJJ also help to strengthen bonds between patients and build community.

Wilderness Adventure Therapy

One of the biggest fears a lot of our patients have about getting sober is boredom. Many patients have built their social lives and hobbies around drinking. Because of this, it can be difficult to imagine a life where they can have a good time without a substance. Our Wilderness Adventure Therapy gives our patients the opportunity to get out in nature, build bonds with fellow patients, and have a great time in sobriety!

Along with alleviating boredom, Wilderness Adventure Therapy encourages patients to practice mindfulness and enjoy the beauty of the nature that surrounds them. This provides peace and serenity during difficult times.

Some of the fun activities we offer our patients include:

  1. Hiking
  2. Paintball
  3. Watersports
  4. High Rope Courses
  5. And More

Along with having a blast, Wilderness Adventure Therapy helps patients to learn discipline, build their strength, and create strong bonds of brotherhood. Community is extremely important to ongoing sobriety, and the activities we provide are designed to help build lifelong bonds between patients.

12-Step Programs

12-step programs are also a great way for patients to build life-long bonds. These programs provide patients with the tools they need to stay sober and find a sense of peace and serenity. There is a major emphasis on the community when it comes to 12-step programs, and members are encouraged to meet with others and help those in need.

Because 12-step programs are anonymous, patients are able to open up and share without fear of judgment. In doing this, they are able to see the similarities they share with other members and work together to reach their common goal of sobriety.

While 12-step programs are built around spirituality, they are generally not focused on any specific religious belief or practice. Individuals are able to find their own “Higher Power.”

Next Step Recovery strongly encourages patients to join a 12-step program both during their treatment and after graduation.
