Addiction recovery is a journey with many different steps. At Next Step Recovery, we encourage support programs that emphasize mental health treatment and prevent relapse. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) services in Raleigh, North Carolina were created for individuals who are focused on improving their mental health, developing life skills, and overcoming addiction.
Intensive Outpatient treatment, is an optional 3-day or 5-day-a-week addiction treatment to help recently discharged patients transition out of inpatient facilities (such as a medical detox or inpatient treatment) and on their way to a fulfilling life.
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides the skills needed for those who have just left a clinical team or residential care but may still need mental health treatment. These mental health services may include therapy or counseling, or assistance with emotional regulation in early recovery.
Our 12-week program’s primary focus is to provide therapy and access to 12-step support groups during the early weeks of outpatient recovery when the risk of drug relapse is highest. Next Step Recovery’s IOP uses a multi-pronged approach that includes:

While offering many of the same skills training and clinical services, our program goes beyond traditional IOPs by implementing a family system within the recovery community. Upon completion of our 15-week intensive outpatient program, clients continue to receive recovery services through:

This IOP treatment program is open to the community of Raleigh, NC. Although Sober Living is highly encouraged, it is not a requirement to attend our Intensive Outpatient Program.
As part of admission to our IOP program, each person is provided with an individualized, comprehensive clinical assessment to identify the level of care and type of treatment that will best support their long-term recovery goals.Â
Since every individual is unique, these goals will look different for everyone. For some in recovery, this may include family therapy, group therapy, and other forms of outpatient treatment that lead to lasting sobriety. For others, there may be an increased focus on individual therapeutic needs.
If it is determined that extra therapy would be beneficial, clients may be encouraged to participate in residential care, dialectical behavioral therapy, and/or work with a psychiatrist. We also provide primary care services such as medication management to help individuals on their recovery journey.
To ensure the quality and safety of our addiction treatment programs, Next Step Recovery’s IOP is only available to residents of our transitional living community who have met the program eligibility criteria.
Our IOP may be covered by most major health insurance groups, although we do not accept Medicaid or Medicare at this time. We also accept cash, checks, and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express).Â
It is important to note that transitional living program fees are not covered by IOP fees and are assessed separately.
