The IOP (Intensive Outpatient) program at Next Step Recovery in Charlotte is a 12-week drug and/or alcohol treatment program where a patient is provided with the tools they need to overcome their addiction and build long-term sobriety.
Outpatient treatment involves the patient visiting our facility 3 to 5 days a week for a few hours at a time. During their time at our facility, our patients receive group therapy, individual counseling, and 12-step education. We have found that, with these three areas of recovery working in tandem, our patients can achieve amazing results during their journey of sobriety. This is especially so during early sobriety, where support is especially important.
If you have any questions about our IOP program, our treatment methods, or insurance costs, reach out to Next Step Recovery today. We’d be happy to answer any questions and help get you started on your journey to recovery.
These activities allow individuals to connect with a part of themselves that thrives amid challenges and provide a community based on positive activities that can be part of an individual’s life for years to come.
We believe a main component of healing is creating new healthy habits that individuals can rely on long after their program is complete. There is a lot of fun to be had in sobriety— and wilderness adventure therapy exemplifies this while helping individuals develop positive skills and coping mechanisms for the future. With our Wilderness Adventure Therapy, patients can spend more time outdoors and learn discipline, strength, and the power of trying something new.
12-step programs are an excellent way for patients both enrolled in our treatment program and those that have graduated from a program. These programs strengthen sobriety and provide connections with other people struggling with addiction. While 12-step programs are focused on a “higher power,” anyone looking to get sober is allowed to attend. Your higher power is defined by you, which means you don’t need to be a member of any particular religion or belief system to attend.
The 12 steps encourage those struggling with substance abuse to get to the root of their addiction and work through the underlying issues. This is done in a caring and peaceful environment surrounded by others that have been through similar experiences. The sense of community alone makes 12-step programs a great resource and we encourage all of our patients to take advantage of this resource.
We find that 12-step programs help patients to become more accepting of others, humble, open, honest, accountable, and caring. These programs also help patients to accept their past and make amends to those that were harmed while they were under the influence.
Wherever you are in your recovery journey, we highly encourage you to work the steps in a 12-step program of recovery for sustainable healing.
Next Step Recovery in Charlotte has a strong focus on two powerful forms of therapy: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Both are proven to help individuals who are struggling with addiction address their anxiety, stress, and discomfort while learning skills to help them overcome challenging situations.
This form of therapy allows patients to use logic to identify and address negative thought patterns. From there they can remove negative habits and behaviors, while also learning better, more positive habits.
This form of therapy helps patients to better understand their thought patterns and behaviors so they can be addressed in a healthy way. CBT is a proven method that helps patients suffering from:
This form of therapy helps patients to better manage their emotions through difficult times. DBT encourages patients to address feelings that arise safely, while also validating their emotions.
The outside world is riddled with stressors and triggers. DBT provides the tools patients need to be resilient when and navigate their way through hard times. Not only is DBT helpful throughout treatment at our facility, but it is also an excellent tool that a patient can take with them and utilize for the rest of their lives.
With DBT, patients learn about:
Intentional exercises are an outstanding tool for overcoming stress and anxiety. With intentional exercise, patients can better connect with the current moment and practice mindfulness. Our exercise therapy services include martial arts, meditation, and yoga, our patients also feel a deep sense of accomplishment and mastery.
Exercise is empowering, relaxing, and an excellent de-stressor when challenges arise. Through our exercise program, our patients are better able to connect with their bodies, other patients, and the world around them positively and in a healthy way.
At Next Step Recovery, we ensure that our patients have the life skills they need to succeed in long-term recovery. Because of this, we ask that our patients attend class, work, or volunteer at least 30 hours a week. Patients are also required to attend support groups throughout the week to encourage growth and learn new skills.
These responsibilities not only create a sense of purpose but also prepare the patient to learn to balance their sobriety and care with the pressures of the outside world. We give our patients the tools they need to transition back to their daily lives and continue to be successful.
There are quite a few recovery options to choose from, and we encourage anyone seeking sustainable healing to consider the following:
