Alcohol Rehab in North Carolina

Having a few drinks with friends may seem innocent, but over time, drinking can quickly become addictive. While many do not consider alcohol to be addictive, alcohol is the number one most abused substance.

Due to the numbing and sedating effects of alcohol on the body, many people turn to alcohol to numb trauma, avoid conflict and stress, or due to social and societal pressures.

Substance abuse treatment programs work hard to combat alcohol addiction. At Next Step Recovery, we help North Carolina residents, and those from further away, with our specialized treatment programs. Addiction treatment options are within your reach at Next Step Recovery.

Do I Need Treatment?

In the early stages of exploring and seeking addiction treatment, many wonder if their alcohol addiction is severe enough to need treatment. If you find yourself answering yes to any of the following questions, now may be the time to seek treatment.

  • Do you hide your substance use disorder from others? Do you isolate to use alone without loved ones or family noticing?

  • Have you experienced significant financial or property loss, or accrued debt in order to fund your addiction?

  • Have you lost family relationships, romantic relationships, or friends due to your alcohol use?

  • Have you tried to withdraw on your own but drank once side effects set in?

  • Have you had an additional medical emergency or mental health disorder due to your substance use?

  • Have you been researching drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers, but backed out at the last minute due to fear of getting sober?

What Does Alcohol Addiction Treatment Involve?

Intake

When you first arrive at a treatment center, you will have to go through the initial intake process.

In this stage, you will be asked about your alcohol use history, mental health treatment or history, medical history, as well as other background information. Answering all of the questions honestly is critical for the treatment team to create a plan for you.

The Detox Process

Often, depending on the severity of your addiction, you will likely have to go through the medical detox process before attending residential or outpatient rehab.

In this stage, you will be monitored by a team of medical professionals as you move through the withdrawal process. Here, you can receive medication-assisted treatment or medication management to ease symptoms and keep you comfortable while you detox.

Residential Treatment

For those that need time away from home to recover, inpatient treatment programs are a good next step after detox. With residential treatment, you will live full-time at the treatment center while you receive care.

The length of your stay may depend on factors like payment and insurance coverage, treatment program length, your substance use disorder and mental health history.

While you are in inpatient treatment, you will have access to individual therapy as well as group therapy. Additionally, you may be able to participate in other therapeutic activities, including art therapy, nature therapy, and music therapy.

PHP Treatment

Between residential treatment and outpatient programs, you may have the option to participate in partial hospitalization programs. These offer the same benefits as residential treatment centers, but without the 24/7 monitoring.

Here, patients may live offsite in facility-approved sober living houses, and be transported to the treatment facility for full-day programming.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment

The best step in transitioning from inpatient rehab facilities to home living is an intensive outpatient program. Intensive outpatient addiction treatment services involve the patient coming to the treatment center for multiple hours per day, multiple days per week.

Generally, this can total anywhere from 15-40 hours of treatment time per week. However, you will be allowed to return home at the end of each day.

You will still have access to individual therapy, group therapy, and even family therapy to address coping skills and create relapse prevention plans.

You may also have access to a range of other therapies and activities including meditation therapy, outdoor therapy, and dual diagnosis treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance abuse treatment.
